Fred's Christmas Party

In stave three, the Ghost of Christmas Present brings Scrooge to Fred's Christmas party. There they play games and dance and eat, but Scrooge is invisible to the rest of them. Scrooge could hear and see them, but they can't see or hear Scrooge. Fred talks a lot about Scrooge at the Christmas party, and he says things that Scrooge was not expecting to hear. Scrooge was expecting Fred to talk about how much he hates Scrooge, but instead, Fred talked about how he felt bad for Scrooge and felt sorry for him. Fred's wife on the other hand says some pretty meanful things about Scrooge. By this point, Scrooge is feeling pretty ashamed of his actions. He is ashamed of acting so bitter and mean, and he is ashamed of treating his only relative so poorly. By the end of the party, they play a game called Yes or No that makes Scrooge even more embarrassed and ashamed since they describe Scrooge as a wild animal. However, during some of the games, we could see Scrooge having fun playing and participating.

In the scenes of the Christmas Party, we see Scrooge starting to act differently than he normally would. For example, Scrooge was actually taking part in the games with the others. Scrooge was having some fun for the first time in a long time, and this is a big change for him. Scrooge has probably never had fun in his adult life, but we see that during this Christmas party, Scrooge is having fun and is actually enjoying himself. This is very good because we could see that Scrooge is changing and is deciding to quit being the grumpy and mean guy he was, and become a happier and more extraverted person. I feel happy for Scrooge because he seem very happy being at the party, and he has had almost no experience with happiness. It makes me glad to see that Scrooge is changing his ways and become happier as a person. I agree with many things that Fred said about Scrooge. Fred said that he feels bad for Scrooge because everytime he refuses to go to Fred's Christmas dinner, it only hurts Scrooge himself. I really like Fred's character and personality because he is always very happy and cheerful even though he has had a tough childhood. Scrooge should be more like Scrooge, because if Scrooge becomes more like Fred, then he will be happier and enjoy himself more.

  1. I agree with you, I think that by seeing Scrooge interacting at the party even though people couldn't see him. I think that at the party, Scrooge showed what he will be in the future after he changes. I also, like Fred's character, and he seems like he cares deeply about his uncle. I think that after Scrooge changes, he will turn to Fred for an example as to how to act as a good person, because Fred has had a bad life, but he isn't a mean person like Scrooge has become.
