Before the Money...

Ebenezer Scrooge is met by the Ghost of Christmas Past, who is there to show Scrooge is memories of previous Christmas. He is shown a Christmas away from home. His father neglected him, and cast him out into the outside world. Even at the boarding school, he was neglected by his peers and teachers. One year was very fond in his memories. An important foreign figure came to the school and sang for the children. Another year he had memories of was when his sister, Fan, came to him when he was alone in the streets, and she told him that he could go home for Christmas, and that his father was nicer and well again. The last Christmas he had seen was when he was older. Old Mr. Fezziwig was about to throw his yearly Christmas party.

During all of these flashbacks, Scrooge was starting to doubt his current views on Christmas. He was starting to understand his nephew's call to him. He had felt the love of the people he had grown up with. He loved the "Merry Christmases" that they had given him. Also, he had felt the love of Mr. Fezziwig, who had a great party every year on Christmas Eve. These memories reminded him of what Christmas really is, and how bad his life had gotten over the past few years. These memories started to melt the cold within his icy heart.

  1. Scrooge really did regret a lot of things after the Ghost of Christmas Past showed him past memories. It's good that he finally realized his mistakes. Seeing Fezziwig and how he was nice to both him and his friend, really made Scrooge realize how mean and bad of a person he is. The memories sure did melt the coldness in his heart a bit.

  2. Good job on your blog post. I agree with you that Scrooge did regret many things in his life after the ghost showed him the memories. Scrooge loved Fan a lot but she died after giving birth to Fred and he blames Fred for Fans death. Scrooge was also neglected by his father and even his classmates who don't interact with him. I also agree with you that Scrooge is a product of his past and now he wants to change it because he regrets many things. Overall you had a good understaning of how Scrooge feels a lot of regret.
