Bob Cratchit works as much as he can for Scrooge, but he gets treated poorly, and he gets paid poorly. He has six children, and he barely gets enough money to support them, his two oldest children work, and they all are probably paid poorly. I feel bad for the Cratchits, because they are cheated out of money, and they are treated poorly, but instead of just falling apart, they stick together as a family, and make each other happy. Even though their entire family is treated poorly by other people, they stick together and make each other happy, and remind each other that they have each other, and that is all they need. The Cratchits remind off that one happy family that you see, but you never know what is actually going on in their life. Most families may force all of their children to work, but instead, the Cratchits only do what is necessary in order to get by for the family. I think that the reason the Cratchits are happy, because they love one another, and they don't force their children to work for an extra income.Reflections on Charles Dickens' classic novel "A Christmas Carol" from Blessed Trinity 8th graders.

Good job with your summary, Kaylee. I have to agree with you, it's kind of surprising that the Cratchits don't ask their children to work and its true. If the children worked then they would have more to eat and would suffer less. I also feel bad for Bob, he works a lot and gets payed so little. Scrooge is very rich and doesn't even spend his money, so he could give some of his wealth to Bob. Also, like you said it is likely that Scrooge starts to pay Bob more now that he knows Little Tim is sick and can die. Overall good job!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, good job with your summary explaining the Cratchit's. I think you could've added more about the appearance of the spirit and how Scrooge had came upon meeting the spirit. However, good job explaining how they may be a poor family, but they have each other. I agree with you when you say that it's a good and bad thing that the little children don't work. I agree because child labor is bad but at the same time, they are a struggling family and could use the extra income. I also agree that Bob should be paid more for his work because it sounds like he is a hard worker and works for the one of the richest men in the city. Very nice memes that you put here!
