My Sister Fan....

I am a mortal
In Stave two, Scrooge gets his first visit from the first ghost that Marley told him of. The Ghost is a child like ghost, but also looks old. He has white hair and no wrinkles on his ghostly face. His arms are musicalar and has very delicate legs. however we learned that he has a beam of light projecting from his head to the sky, the light is like his light source. He covers the light with a cap, I guess to not blind Scrooge. Anyways The ghost calls himself "The ghost from christmas Past." The ghost takes Scrooge to an open country road, where we find out that's the place he grew up in. They entered a mansion and down the hall, they see a lonely Scrooge reading as a kid. Scrooge recognizes that he had no friends, all his friends were in books that he read. However, the ghost takes Scrooge to another christmas there we met Fan. Fan is Scrooge's little sister that he loves dearly and she loved him back lots more. She told him that he could come home for christmas because their Father is nicer. In the end we find out from Scrooge that Fan died young due to childbirth, she died having Scrooge's nephew Fred.

Scrooge has a good reason as to why he treats Fred terribly. Scrooge lost his dear sister, that he loved very much and who always worried about him. I couldn't imagine such tragedy happening to one of my family member, if something like that happened. Especially if she was the only one that actually cared about Scrooge. However, Fred is the creation of Fan's (and his father). She must have wanted him to survive rather than herself because of that Scrooge should love Fred. Scrooge should see that it's a good thing that Fred reminds him of Fan. Do you agree? Do you disagree? What do you think?

  1. Great job Emily! This was very well writeen, lots of detail in the begining, when discribing the ghost from chirstmas past. Also great job on reflecting to your own life in the passage, and asking questions to the viewer!

  2. Good job with your post, Emily! I however have to disagree with the phase, "Scrooge has a good reason as to why he treats Fred terribly",in my opinion there is no good reason to hate someone, and specially when the person didn't have a saying. Fred didn't know his mother was going to die giving birth and he was raised without a mom which is hard. And I agree with the part when you say that Fan probably wanted Fred to live instead of herself. Scrooge might not have treated Fred the way he should of but he can change! Probably when all the three ghost come and visit him, he will be a changed for the good. He might even start to talk more to Fred and to make their relationship stronger. Overall good summary. Keep up the hard work!
